A Review of Canada's WWE Network

The WWE Network was released here in Canada this past Tuesday (Aug. 12) and I thought I would write a short review here to let people know, whether you're a Canadian considering subscribing or just someone interested in the difference between the services, just what the Canadian Network is.

First of all, it's more expensive. Here it costs $11.99 CAD, which exchanges to about $11.00 USD. So all that $9.99 crap is just all the more infuriating than it was before. However, I would suggest buying no matter what, because that is still a massive savings on the pay-per-view's, even though the rest of the service is a rip-off. Why is it a rip-off?

Well let's get in to that.

The WWE Network in the U.S. is basically a type of wrestling Netflix. From what I've seen, it's easy to navigate and has hundreds of hours of content, including original programming. That is not what we have here. Instead, we have the same interface as the regular Rogers On Demand service just with WWE content. That service has always been annoying as hell to navigate and everything is incredibly slow. That's on the version they've spent years developing and refining, and it's still awful. Imagine how slow the brand new, buggy WWE Network is.

Now, I could absolutely put up with slow navigation and difficult to find content if I was able to watch any show from the past, like in the States. But I can't. The content is virtually nonexistent. Here's a complete list of content on the On Demand Service:

WWE SummerSlam 1992

WWE SummerSlam 1998

WWE SummerSlam 2000

WWE SummerSlam 2002

WWE SummerSlam 2005

WWE SummerSlam 2013

ECW Heat Wave 1998

ECW Heat Wave 1999

ECW One Night Stand 2005

WCW Great American Bash 1989

WCW Bash at the Beach 1994

WCW Bash at the Beach 1996

WCW Road Wild 1998

That's it. Thirteen shows. That's all we have to choose from out of the entire WWE Library. Not a single WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, or Starrcade. We got this watered down crappy version while the rest of the world got wrestling Netflix. We got way less for more money. That's without even mentioning you have to be a Rogers customer to get it. For the record, Rogers doesn't cover a large portion of Canada and even in the parts it does cover, there are people who hate it. The deal with Rogers cuts out the majority of Canadian fans.

My verdict?

Get it.

It is such a huge deal on the pay-per-view's it would be crazy not to.

But don't go in expecting anything from the On Demand service because it's horrible.
