Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact, it's just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- According to the Wrestling Observer, the match times and bout order for SummerSlam this coming Sunday have been set.
Dolph Ziggler vs. The Miz: 10 min.
Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt: 15 min.
Rusev vs. Jack Swagger: 12 min.
AJ Lee vs. Paige: 12 min.
Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins: 15 min.
Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton: 20 min.
Stephanie McMahon vs. Brie Bella: 15 min.
John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar: 25 min.
- Apparently Brie Bella, who hasn't worked a match in months, and Stephanie McMahon, who hasn't worked a match in years, are both training really hard because they want to have a good match. They're being given the time for it, but it's worth wondering what kind of overbooking WWE has planned to make up for the relative limitations at play here.
- Mark Yeaton was, apparently, a Kevin Dunn guy and with the landscape of WWE changing more and more every day, all the Dunn guys will eventually be gone.
- It appears as though all episodes of WCW Monday Nitro will be available for viewing on the WWE Network by October. Another rumor: I heard our site manager, Geno, was planning some sort of Wednesday night live blog for old Nitro episodes. Can't confirm but I believe the plan is each week to do a new episode at the same time so it could function like the Raw live blog except everyone watches along on the Network and comments while he live blogs it as if it was live. Again, just a rumor on that for now.
- If SmackDown moves to Thursdays -- and that's looking more like a "when" and not an "if" -- the NXT live specials could be moved to Wednesdays. Takeover 2 (Electric Boogaloo) is set for Sept. 11 but another one isn't in the works until early next year.
