The Un-Bo-Lievable

Yes, it's true. It's damn true. (/KurtAngle) It's a moment so shocking, Geno pulled out the Breaking News banner just for this moment.

But... Okay. I'm going to go on a limb and voice a very unpopular opinion: I don't see why there's so much wailing and gashing of teeth.

I'm going to sidebar for a moment into another Streak being broken. If nobody can tell, I'm a huge Undertaker fan despite the fact I haven't watched the product for years. WWE piqued my interest after Bearer's passing with WM29 and the Punk/Taker match, if only for the build, but I wasn't quite ready to return. But when I heard that Lesnar broke the Undertaker's streak at WM30 (before Paul Heyman's beautiful promo the night after), I was legitimately shocked. I never thought they'd actually do it, and it drew me back into the product to see just what else could/would/did happen.

And you know what? I was OK with it then -- even before I learned of Taker's legitimate injuries and severe concussion -- and I'm OK with it now. It was time. The Streak was getting stale, the Deadman was not getting any younger, and it was getting harder and harder to justify the whole thing. And honestly, as much as Heyman's "21-1" promo was a complete smarmy unapologetic apology to the fans for what had happened, the bastard was right. Who else but Lesnar could legitimately do what all else had failed to accomplish -- from young talent to seasoned veterans and even Father Time himself?

(/sidebar ... not to be confused with ARMBAR)

Now back to my point. I love Bo Dallas as a character. I love the way he'd been booked, I love everything he's done both in-and-out of the ring since he first debuted on the main roster, and I actually love what they did last night. We'd seen his facade of "Inspirational Mask Of Insincerity" crack before, both when Daniel Bryan told him off in the middle of the ring and when he defeated Santino. But last night, the mask shattered in one unbolieveable moment when Bo's streak was broken as the direct result of a pre-win celebration.

I saw it as perfect storytelling. It could have been anyone, but it happened to be R-Truth because that's who Bo faced that night. Besides, who else would had made the same impact? Ryder? He already got that moment with Fahn-dahn-goh a week or two ago. Any serious contender for a belt (Sheamus, Cesaro, etc) would have truly buried Bo (and let's face it, would Bo's subsequent heel-attack have had the same impact as it did on R-Truth?) And to have stretched the 'streak' until 21-and-Bo only for Lesnar to squash him would have hurt Bo even worse.

This isn't about 'burying' Bo and 'pushing' R-Truth. This isn't even about who broke Bo's streak. This is all about Bo himself, by breaking an almost-stale gimmick into a new direction with a nice dose of character development to boot. How would Bo justify this loss? Would he be searching for some loophole to strike it from the record (he grabbed my tights, I wasn't ready, etc)? Because, you see, I had the same thought cross my mind as I did with the last Streak to be broken:
