Rumor Roundup (July 1, 2014): Jericho's return, Bryan's injury, SummerSlam plans and more!

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact; so remember to take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • Chris Jericho's latest surprise return was covered for with tweets and Instagram posts indicating that he was with his family.  The word on the screens is that he's back for about three months, running through Night of Champions on September 21st.  His band, Fozzy, releases their sixth studio album on July 22nd and havn't done any extensive touring in support of it yet, so that could be where he heads off to come the fall.
  • Sticking with Y2J, the feud set up last night when The Wyatt Family attacked him during his return is rumored to be one of the top four programs heading into SummerSlam.  Along with the widely leaked John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar title match, word is that we'll get Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt, Randy Orton vs. Roman Reigns and Stephanie McMahon vs. Brie Bella on August 17th in Los Angeles.
  • Remember yesterday's report that Daniel Bryan's speech at Money in the Bank was likely a work and that he should be back on the latest time table for a Battleground return?  There are conflicting reports going around that he is having arm strength issues and WWE is preparing to be without him for the next six months.
  • Bully Ray, Matt Hardy and other TNA stars were on social media last night, using Raw hashtags to encourage WWE fans to give Impact another shot for the next six weeks, the episodes of which will be made up of their three-show run in New York last week.  It's an interesting strategy, and lines up with reports that locker room morale is at an all-time high coming out of those tapings.
  • Kane may soon be billed along with Miz as a "cross platform" star.  His return to movies as the horror villain Jacob Goodnight, See No Evil 2, is now set for a straight-to-DVD release.
  • Speaking of WWE Studios stars, the rumor for Big Show's return opponent when he's done filming Vendetta?  The Bulgarian Brute, Rusev.
