Although he won't be wrestling at the show as was initially planned, The Rock is still expected to make an appearance at WrestleMania 30 this Sun., April 6, 2014, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. That's according to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), who state that "those in WWE have said he'll be on the show in some form".
That could mean an appearance live and in person or a throwback with a promo via satellite.
This may not sound like much to get excited about -- it's not, really -- but it's better than his not appearing at all, as he stated late last year was likely to happen. If you'll remember, the original plan was for Rock to work a match with Brock Lesnar that likely would have been the main event of this year's showcase but that went out the window when "The Great One" suffered various injuries during his match with John Cena at WrestleMania 29.
He was forced to fly home to Miami, nixing plans for a major angle at Monday Night Raw the next evening that would have led to the Lesnar showdown.
There is at least a small possibility Rock will set up something for WrestleMania 31. There hasn't been anything to indicate he'll be working that show outside of his outright saying he might be doing so, albeit a number of months ago.
Hey, anything to get excited about his being there, right?
