WrestleMania XI Review: One of the Worst Wrestling Pay-Per-Views of All Time

Event: WrestleMania XI

Date: April 2nd, 1995

Place: Hartford Civic Center, Hartford, Connecticut

Attendance: 16,305

Singer: Special Olympian Kathy Huey

Alright, when I decided to undertake this project, I knew that there would be a couple of shitty shows. I also thought that WrestleMania IX was the worst WrestleMania that I would have to review. I couldn't have been more wrong. WrestleMania XI made WrestleMania IX look like WrestleMania III in comparison. This show was beyond shitty; it was a fucking disaster from the start. There were a number of technical difficulties during the event which sullied the experience quite a bit. If there is anything good that came from this show, it was the show that supposedly saved WWE from WCW...although I'm not sure how. Also, this show marked the first WrestleMania to use decent amounts of ring pyro.

On to the matches....dammit this was a bad show.

The Allied Powers (Lex Luger and The British Bulldog) defeat The Blu Brothers (Jacob and Eli) (with Uncle Zebekiah)

Fun fact...and the only good part about this match: Uncle Zebekiah is none other than the man we know now as Zeb Coulter, only with longer, darker hair (I think he also had a mullet). The rest of the match was mehh.

Razor Ramon (with 1-2-3 Kid) defeats Jeff Jarrett (with The Roadie) via DQ

Another fun fact: The 1-2-3 Kid was the man we knew best as X-Pac, and The Roadie was none other than Road Dogg. As for the match itself, it was pretty good wrestling-wise. However, I consider it to be shitty due to excessive amounts of manager shenanigans. I can understand a couple from each manager, but the number in this match was just absurd. I was glad to see this one end.

The Undertaker (with Paul Bearer) defeats King Kong Bundy (with Ted DiBiase)

This match was not all. Undertaker went 4-0, so there's that.

Owen Hart and Yokozuna (with Mr. Fuji and Jim Cornette) defeat The Smoking Gunns

The Smoking GUNNS...hmmmmm. As for the match, it sucked, especially when Yokozuna was in the ring. Owen and the Gunns did a good job though.

Bret Hart defeats Bob Backlund in an "I Quit" match

We had Roddy Piper as guest referee. As for the match, it was just ok. The ending was completely stupid though. Also, it was at this point of the show when I willingly turned the show off and opted to finish the viewing was that horrible.

Diesel (with Pamela Anderson) defeats Shawn Michaels (with Psycho Sid and Jenny McCarthy)

Diesel was WWF Champion at this time...just let that sink in your head for a moment. As for the match, it was decent, but kind of boring. Diesel also executed the worst Jackknife I have ever seen.

Lawrence Taylor defeats Bam Bam Bigelow (with The Million Dollar Corporation)

Ladies and gentlemen, this match was your main event. No, not Michaels v. Diesel, but this match: Bam Bam Bigelow v. Lawrence Taylor. LAWRENCE TAYLOR, A FUCKING FOOTBALL PLAYER. This match was mehh. However, I do give Taylor some credit for not looking like Eva Marie during this match.

This show was fucking horrible. It makes the last few modern WWE PPVs look amazing in comparison. The match of the night....fuck it, I don't recommend any of them. Sure, Diesel v. Michaels got four stars from Meltzer, but I didn't really enjoy it.

The grade for this piece of buffalo shit is obvious: F. Fuck this show!

Stay tuned for WrestleMania XII!
