It's Not About the Streak

Why can't Batista come back after four years to the same reception as The Rock who left for seven years. Simply put Batista was inserted into a position that people wanted Daniel Bryan in. Batista was inserted into the Wrestlemania main event after four years of not being in WWE, the same four years that Daniel Bryan worked his tail off in to reach the brass ring. Now what does this have to do (or not do) with the streak and the Undertaker. Well when Rock was announced to face Cena one year in advance, nobody was caught off guard with the Rock taking a Rumble win from a young CM Punk or anything like that. The one year in advance stipulation was smart, because it gave fans no choice and at times when your faith is decided for you is when it's easiest to accept something. The Rock came back the following year and won the WWE Championship to the dismay of many people. He had many more fans that Batista and has reached a point where he probably won't get booed (you never know), but people are NOT stupid. When someone looks like the Rock or Batista who were both in WWE for EIGHT years, and them living the high class, movie star, good looks life and then coming back and forth to WWE to take that spotlight there will be people who get angry. Believe me when the Rock comes back in the next year or two he better have a good reason (one WWE fans can believe) to not have a mixed reaction over time. He better be facing Daniel Bryan, Roman Reigns, and others in marque matches because that's his role. If he comes back and does anything of the same old, he will get booed, because fans can see right through someone who is transparent. There is only ONE man who can wrestle ONE match at ONE show in ONE year, and he is a man who gave TWENTY full years to this business before becoming part time, and WWE fans see that, respect the hell out of that, and are OK with that. When WWE fans see someone like Undertaker who wrestled TWENTY full years and does not look like a high caliber, high class movie star outside the ring, but rather a bag of sand that could crumble at any time, they see how much he has given to the business and how much of a toll it had on him. People don't watch Wrestlemania every year to see if the streak will be broken, but rather watch Wrestlemania to see if that match was Undertaker's last match. It's not about the streak but rather one final look at the greatest wrestler of all time who gave his life to the business of pro wrestling, one final look before we never see him again and he walks off into the sunset.
