Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact; so remember to take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- We mentioned yesterday that Kane vs. the Shield at WrestleMania XXX is almost certainly going to happen, but there is still some question about who will partner with Kane to fill out the 6-man tag team match. NXT tag team champions, the Ascension, is being pushed by some internally as a way to debut the team on the main roster in a big way. However, the New Age Outlaws are also under consideration. The Outlaws themselves have been pushing to get a match against the Shield for some time, and considering that they are buddies of de facto head of creative Triple H, they very well may get that opportunity.
- Speaking of the Shield, the current plan is indeed for Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose to turn on Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XXX. Rollins and Ambrose would remain together as a tag team, while Reigns would move into a singles role. The possibility of adding a new member to the Ambrose/Rollins duo is also still on the table.
- Many have claimed that one of the biggest knocks against Kofi Kingston is his stale, bland babyface character. Kofi himself realizes this, and has been aggressively pushing for a heel turn. In other Kofi news, there is also some who feel that he has been de-emphasized of late because he is a close friend of CM Punk, in the same way some feel AJ Lee has been for being Punk's girlfriend.
- Word came out over the weekend that UFC star and UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey would be open to a career in pro wrestling. Most consider it extremely unlikely to ever happen, but the idea has apparently at least been discussed within WWE as a draw for WrestleMania 31 or further down the line. The idea would be to use Rousey like a female version of Brock Lesnar, that is, as a legitimate fighter who is a threat to anyone on the female roster. Rousey will be busy with her UFC career and budding movie career, but she is a fan of pro wrestling and it would be possible for WWE officials to make a financial offer she couldn't refuse.
