Although heavily hyped (for all of one day) by WWE, Undertaker's one and only appearance on Main Event, which happened tonight (Mar. 18, 2014) in Houston, Texas, wasn't much more than a hype job for next Monday night's episode of Raw in Brooklyn.
Paul Heyman made an appearance to say that Undertaker's WrestleMania streak is the most important thing in WWE and Brock Lesnar wanted him to show up just to say he's going to break it. This led to "The Deadman" making his appearance to say the following:
"One, one reason you walk out of here tonight. And that's because I want you to deliver a message personally to your client. You tell Brock Lesnar that when the Undertaker gets to New Orleans he's going to slay the beast. And once that's done, I'm going to take his rotting corpse and I'm going to throw it into the fiery pits of eternal hell. Do you understand? And there's one more thing. If there's something about that message that he doesn't understand, I'll be in Brooklyn next Monday night and I will hand deliver personally this message. Now I suggest you leave while you're still able."
And that was that.
So, really, the hype job for Undertaker's appearance on Main Event was to get us to watch so Undertaker could deliver another hype job for his appearance on Raw next Monday. You could argue that's always the case but this was a thin segment that offered very little in the way of story advancement.
Oh well. At least Heyman was great again, no?
