Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact; so remember to take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- We now know that the winner of the Triple H vs. Daniel Bryan match will earn a place in the WWE World Heavyweight Title main event match at WrestleMania XXX. One reason that Triple H was added as a possible entrant is supposedly because WWE officials wanted to add an air of uncertainty to his match with Bryan. Still, despite Triple H's history, it would be a major surprise for him to actually end up in the title match when all is said and done.
- Over the past several weeks and months, we've mentioned the possibility that Alberto Del Rio, Christian, and Rey Mysterio could all be walking away from WWE at the end of the current contracts. Another name to watch is Kane, though not quite as soon. Kane has apparently been telling friends and family that he plans to retire at the end of his current contract in two years. He was said to have considered retirement when it came time to renew his contract previously, but couldn't walk away from the money WWE was offering him.
- If you've spent any significant amount of time following WWE online, you've likely heard someone mention the "Cranky Vince" Twitter account at some point. "Cranky Vince" is a parody account for Vince McMahon, often posting random backstage tidbits along with Vince's (possibly exaggerated) reactions and ideas. Last night, as Raw got under way, the Cranky Vince account and John Bradshaw Layfield's (JBL's) Twitter account (@JCLayfield) each posted the exact same message within seconds of one another. The message on the Cranky Vince account was then quickly deleted. This has led to many speculating that JBL may actually be the person behind the Cranky Vince Twitter account. JBL quickly posted a denial not long after, stating that the claims are not true.
- On last night's Raw, WWE Diva Naomi returned to action wearing an eye patch over her injured eye. In actuality, Naomi doesn't need the eye patch, and was not wearing it while filming at the WWE Performance Center last week. The patch is actually for her part on Total Divas, where her eye injury is expected to be part of the storyline.
