Rumor Roundup (Feb. 7): CM Punk WWE news, Batista movie, 2014 Hall of Fame class, more!

Today's rumors: Bad news for CM Punk fans, Batista movie gets a sequel, Hall of Fame updates, and more!

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact; so remember to take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • It is starting to appear as though CM Punk will not be back with WWE, or anyone, anytime soon. According to new reports, Punk "doesn't want to wrestle, period." Additionally, WWE has begun the process of stripping CM Punk's image from upcoming merchandise, including a planned WrestleMania XXX commemorative t-shirt where Punk reportedly held a "prominent place."
  • Speaking of Punk, he was scheduled to appear next week on the Comedy Central show @Midnight, along with the Miz. Per host Chris Hardwick, responding to fans on Twitter, it does appear that Punk is off the show now. Punk has appeared on Hardwick's other shows in the past, including his Nerdist podcast and the Talking Dead.
  • Yesterday, we mentioned that the Rock is being rumored to play the Green Lantern in a future DC Comics movie. In other wrestler/comic book news, plans have reportedly already begun for a Guardians of the Galaxy sequel in 2016, with Batista reprising his role as Drax the Destroyer. The first part of that series comes out this August, and rumors remain steady that Batista will be WWE World Heavyweight Champion during the lead up to release.
  • In WWE Hall of Fame news, it is being said that WWE has a third star in mind to induct "on the level of Jake Roberts and Ultimate Warrior." No names have been mentioned so far, but feel free to guess in the comments below. Additionally, WWE has hit a major snag in their plan to induct the WrestleMania I main event. It is said to be dependent on all of those involved to accept the induction, and so far, Mr. T has not. WWE officials are going to continue to push for him to accept, but if he does not, the match may not be inducted. A potential 2014 Hall of Fame class may look something like:
    • Ultimate Warrior
    • Jake Roberts
    • Stacy Keibler (Lita as a backup plan)
    • Mystery Name
    • WrestleMania I main event match
  • We all know the rumors regarding the Shield's impending breakup and possible reformation with a new member, but how about 3MB? Though it has been quite some time since there was news on this front, WWE officials wanted to split Drew McIntyre from the group and move him back into a singles role. If this is indeed still in the plans, look for Curt Hawkins to potentially replace him in the group. WWE has been experimenting with placing Hawkins in the group at recent house shows, and then again on this week's Superstars.
  • Members of the main WWE creative team were at the Performance Center in Orlando, FL, this week to talk with and evaluate some of the NXT talents. The belief is that the creative team was there to get some ideas on how to best utilize the talent. Alexander Rusev, Sami Zayn, Adrian Neville, and NXT Women's Champion Paige are said to be those on the short-list for a call up. (Rusev is already kind-of-sort-of called up, having debuted at Royal Rumble and then doing a pre-taped promo on Smackdown with his manager, Lana.)
  • Another name to watch to potentially be coming into NXT is Prince Devitt. WWE has reportedly offered a developmental contract to the high-flying Irishman, but Devitt has not decided on whether or not to sign it yet.
