Tag Team Break-Up
Darren Young vs. Titus O'Neil
It wasn't so long ago that they were becoming friends on NXT: Redemption...
...and bonding over real-life news and the perils of eating too much turkey.
But as is so often the case in pro wrestling, professional jealousy has gotten the best of The Prime Time Players. In Minneapolis, they'll start trying to sort it out like grown men do, by pretending to fight each other until the script calls for one of them to defeat the other.
The road to Elimination Chamber
It seemed like just another night for PTP, as they faced off against some fellow NXTers (albeit under new names). There had been some bumps on the road to tag team gold, but they weren't faring any worse than any other team that didn't have at least member that had worked in the last century.
But this loss was too much for Titus to take...
The Real Deal's big-headed ways made for an entertaining promo, but (1) nobody steps on Renee's lines like that, and (2) is Darren Young gonna have to choke a b!+$#?
Mr. No Days Off would go one better when he shredded his former friend's thousand dollar suit when Titus tried to jump him following a win over Damien Sandow. But, in retrospect, maybe DY should have considered O'Neil's selfish ways before he went ahead and formed a team with the former Gator.
What's at stake?
Revenge for Young, and a chance to prove that he really was being held back by the original Nexus member for Titus.
If rumors are true, and this program is indeed Vince McMahon offering O'Neil a "sink or swim" moment as a singles performer, the stakes may be higher for him than his partner. Darren Young gives WWE it's very own civil rights figure and a great story they can showcase at anti-bullying and other public relations events. Titus doesn't have the same level of job security, and should be looking to impress at Elimination Chamber.
