Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact; so remember to take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- We previously mentioned that, barring a major change in plans, Randy Orton will be leaving Elimination Chamber on Sunday as WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Another seemingly obvious outcome which is likely to happen is that the Authority will, in some way, screw Daniel Bryan out of winning the match. Then, things could get interesting. It sounds as if the current plan may be for Vince McMahon to return to television, quite possibly on the star-studded 2/24 edition of Raw, to personally insert Daniel Bryan into the WWE World Heavyweight title match at WrestleMania XXX between Orton and Batista. We mentioned before that WWE officials seemed to be leaning toward putting Bryan into the title match, and now we have a possible path for that to happen. That would also likely mean that Roman Reigns will be inserted into a WM30 match with Triple H.
- As we all know, Vince McMahon loves mainstream attention and he is about to get quite a bit coming up soon. ESPN's E:60 crew was reportedly in Orlando last week shooting footage for an upcoming documentary on WWE"s developmental system, NXT. It wouldn't be the first time E:60 featured something relating to WWE, however the previous stories (on Scott Hall and Vince McMahon himself) were more negative and discussed the controversies surrounding both men. This one, apparently being filmed with WWE's cooperation, is likely to be much more positive.
- While there has been no official word, New Japan's Prince Devitt is expected to sign with WWE soon. An offer has been on the table for some time and WWE has promised Devitt only a "short stay" in NXT hoping to sweeten the deal.
- One former Indy star who is already in NXT is Solomon Crowe, formerly known as Sami Callihan. There are rumors out there that Crowe will soon officially debut on-screen, possibly even at next week's NXT Arrival pay per view. Crowe himself added more credence to these rumors, posting on Twitter that it's "time for the world to evolve..." with the hash tag "#NXTArrival." He also called out Baron Corbin in another Tweet, possibly indicating that Corbin will be Crowe's first feud in NXT.
