The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Royal Rumble event set to take place on Sun., Jan. 25, 2015, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the company's annual beginning of the year showcase featuring its most popular gimmick match. It will crown the next number one contender to the WWE world heavyweight championship.
We're four weeks out from showtime and so far two matches have been made official.
- Royal Rumble
This is the big one, folks. It will be a 30-man match this year, despite early reports to the contrary, and the only official entrant in the match so far is the man most are predicting to win, Roman Reigns. WWE did not elect to add anyone to the match, nor even promote it, over the holiday week.
- Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena (WWE world heavyweight title)
For the third time in the last six PPV's, these two will battle over the title. They have split those meetings, though Cena's win came by way of disqualification. The match is being promoted as the final showdown between the two.
There isn't much in the way of direction for other matches to be added to the card outside of Rusev vs. Ryback. That would make three with two other bouts expected.
