We all know I loved the Sami Zayn vs. Adrian Neville NXT Championship match at Takeover: R Evolution. Everybody knows that you loved the main event at the last NXT live special.
But did you know that WWE Hall of Famer Pat Patterson loved it just as much if not more than you?
That's what Neville told The Sun, in an interview you can read on their website at this link:
Pat wasn't scheduled to come out at all, he happened to be backstage. He comes along occasionally to NXT and lends his advice to some of the younger guys.
Apparently, watching the match, Pat wasn't meant to come out but he just foxed his way through - he said he was going to jump the railings, no matter what Triple H said!
He just shook my hand and congratulated me and told me he'd enjoyed the match which coming from someone like Pat is huge. It was surreal. Someone like Pat giving you that nod, it is unbelievable.
We can only hope that Pat spreads the gospel of Zayn/Neville back to his friend Vince McMahon, or that he knows Vince so well that he deliberately tells him something else to keep him from trying to meddle with Sami and the Brit.
For his part, the Man That Gravity Forgot rates the December 11th bout as the best he and Zayn have ever had together, and said he "teared up" moments after it was over as a result.
So, if you feel like you're overrating NXT Takeover: R Evolution in your mind, remember that it moved one of the wrestlers to tears and caused a 73 year old man who's seen more wrestling than many of us combined to turn into a fan boy.
