WWE went rolling into Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, tonight (Jan. 7, 2014) to tape the SmackDown show that will air this coming Friday night on SyFy. During the taping, Big Show appears on Miz TV to talk about why he came down to attack Brock Lesnar after "The Beast" broke Mark Henry's arm on "Old School" Raw this week.
That led to a promo, which led to a challenge, which led to an appearance from Paul Heyman, which led to another promo, which led to an acceptance of said challenge.
So, despite Henry getting beat down on consecutive episodes of Raw, it will be Brock Lesnar taking on Big Show in a singles match at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view (PPV) on Sun., Jan. 26, 2014, at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
With no inside knowledge behind the thought process of the powers that be, one can't help but wonder why one of Lesnar's few dates is being used at an event like the Royal Rumble in a match against a wrestler like Big Show. Oh it's a HOSS FIGHT, sure, but how much will this affect the buyrate, if at all?
Hey, at least it should be fun, right?
Updated Royal Rumble match card and line-up:
- Royal Rumble
- Randy Orton vs. John Cena (WWE world heavyweight championship)
