Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact; so remember to take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- WWE's reported "groundbreaking announcement" is, indeed, expected to be the official announcement of the WWE Network. There are some other crazy theories out there ranging from the announcement of the returns of Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels to active wrestling to the return of the "brand extension" to WWE announcing they've purchased TNA. Don't believe them. Right now, there is about a 95-percent certainty the announcement will be for the WWE Network.
- Cody Rhodes, one half of the tag team champions along with his brother Goldust, apparently suffered an ankle injury during the pair's match against the Real Americans on last night's Raw. Following the match, Rhodes removed one of his boots and was helped to the back by his brother and the referee. Hopefully the injury is nothing serious, not only for the team's tag team titles, but for their long rumored showdown at WrestleMania XXX.
- In news that will surely have most of you rolling your eyes and sighing, Daniel Bryan joining The Wyatt Family was said to be an idea thought up and pushed hard by Vince McMahon himself. Others in creative were told to just go with it, and no long term plan for the angle was revealed to them. It is a story they're just making up as they go with guidance from McMahon. Rumors from last week stating that Bryan could be joined by John Cena and Hulk Hogan to take on the Wyatt Family at WrestleMania XXX were apparently from before this heel turn was pushed. What will happen now may only be known to one person on this planet: Vincent Kennedy McMahon.
- If you watched last night's Raw, you saw Brock Lesnar supposedly break Mark Henry's arm after their brawl. WWE is reporting that the injury is a dislocated and fractured elbow. It is not known if this is to write Henry off television or why they might be doing so.
