Despite the fact that he suffered a concussion on the Jan. 13 episode of Monday Night Raw, Daniel Bryan was reportedly cleared to return to the ring on the Jan. 20 episode, the go home show to the Royal Rumble pay-per-view (PPV) scheduled for this Sun., Jan. 26, 2014, at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
It was there that he returned, cut a promo calling out Bray Wyatt, and got a response in the affirmative. So now it's official: the two will have a singles match at the big event this weekend.
From WWE.com:
Good and evil will meet head-on this Sunday when WWE's beloved "Yes!" man, Daniel Bryan, faces the sermonizing savage known as Bray Wyatt at Royal Rumble.
With his seeming indoctrination of Bryan several weeks ago, Wyatt may have thought he was on his way to helping yet another follower tap into his inner monster. Yet, as the WWE Universe and Wyatt found out in one of the most rousing scenes in Raw history on Jan. 13, The Beard cannot be tamed.
This may very well mean Bryan will not be entering the Royal Rumble match, though it's been confirmed that Erick Rowan and Luke Harper will be.
Here's the updated Royal Rumble match card and line-up:
- Royal Rumble
- Randy Orton vs. John Cena
- Brock Lesnar vs. Big Show
- Daniel Bryan vs. Bray Wyatt
- Rhodes Brothers vs. New Age Outlaws
