Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact; so remember to take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- While the pieces continue to fall into place and we learn more about what matches there might be at the show, it is currently being said that WWE has not decided on which match will be the true "main event" of WrestleMania XXX. (Meaning the actual last match to take place.) WWE has been declaring a number of "main events" at the last several WrestleManias, but this year, there does not seem to be a clear-cut "Rock vs. John Cena" type of match that stands head-and-shoulders above the rest in terms of a draw to close the show. Obviously, the long-rumored match between a Royal Rumble-winning Batista and a WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton would get real consideration for the match, as would whatever match the Undertaker is in, be it against Brock Lesnar, Daniel Bryan, or someone else. Whatever John Cena ends up doing, which could potentially be a match involving Hulk Hogan in some way, is also a possibility. One match to watch as a dark horse candidate to main event the show is the rumored Triple H vs. CM Punk match. It wouldn't exactly go against Triple H's nature to put himself in such a spot, and it has long been said that being the true main event at WrestleMania is one of CM Punk's career goals.
- Speaking of the Royal Rumble, we now know who more than half the competitors will be thanks to them announcing their intention to enter through various WWE media. The list currently sits at: Alberto Del Rio, Batista, Big E Langston, CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Fandango, Goldust, Kofi Kingston, Miz, Rey Mysterio, R-Truth, Wade Barrett, Xavier Woods, and each member of the Shield. Zack Ryder also made mention of wearing certain tights in the match on his Twitter. It is also worth nothing who is not expected to participate. Due to them having prominent matches elsewhere on the Royal Rumble card, it is not currently expected that Big Show, Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton, or (last year's winner) John Cena will participate.
- In addition to everything else the WWE Network will be showing, the full WWE Hall of Fame ceremony may be aired live on the network as well. In past years, the USA Network would air a special with only a select few of the inductions shown. If you wanted to see the rest, you had to buy the DVD. The Ultimate Warrior is the only confirmed inductee so far, with the WrestleMania I tag team main event expected to announced any time now as the first "match" to be inducted.
- Casting off any remaining doubt, the two new talents who will be debuting on tonight's live edition of TNA Impact are Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards. Dixie Carter tweeted a picture with the initials of the new talents as a "hint." "EE" and "DR" were the initials shown.
