Wellington's WABAC 12: It’s Time. It’s Time! It’s Time?

Format update! I've decided to steal borrow from Geno and his approach to recapping Monday Night RAW. Hopefully this will make it easier on all of you to read. With that out of the way, we're into In Your House 12: It's Time

Part 1

  • We open with Rock Maivia against Salvatore Sincere (with Jim Cornette). Apparently, Cornette was seeking Maivia's agreement to manage him, but the Rocky turned him down. We open with Sincere giving a speech to the crowd and then the match starts with Sincere in control, ending his initial flourish with a slap. But Sincere gets it turned around on him by Rocky and does his comedy bit bouncing off the ropes. Cornette tries to make the save but Rocky fends him off and hits the Shoulder Breaker. Before the pin though Cornette gets in and gets Sincere disqualified while the arena picks ups "Rocky" chants.- Rocky Wins via DQ
  • We get a brief rundown of the Mero-Helmsley feud before we get into a match between Leif Cassidy vs Flash Funk and the Funkadatyls Funkettes. It's a nice warm up match with Leif being a heel followed by Flash Funk hitting some high flying moves and eventually he gets the pin with a splash move off the tope rope. Not much to the match but an enjoyable PPV filler.- Flash Funk wins via Pinfall
  • We get our first featured match, the Fake Outsiders (Fake Ramon and Fake Diesel) vs the Real Camp Cornette (Real Owen and Real Bulldog). We start of with Dr. Isaac Yankem vs the King of Hearts, size vs strength. During the match however, two guys in masks come out and taunt the Hart crew, letting the Outsiders gain control. Not a terrible match, but not particularly compelling. The highlight comes when Stone Cold comes out to the ring, distracting British Bulldog for a bit before the refs clear everyone out. The match continues for a while before Owen and Bulldog get Faux Razor down for an Owen pin. As they celebrate, Stone Cold sweeps Bulldog's leg and flees again. Owen and Bulldog win via pinfall

(Im assuming, the young Razor was not as concerned with this)

Part 2

  • We get a brief promo next, with Vince introducing Ahmed Johnson to the crowd, and promises him a shot against Farooq at the Royal Rumble. During Ahmed's promo, the Nation of Domination (from this point on: NoD). Ahmed gives a promo of his own, calling Ahmed Johnson an embarrassment to "his people" and an Uncle Tom.

(Vince, Ahmed and Farooq then had a conversation about Pre-Bellum literature and its relation to the modern world)

  • Up next we get Hunter Hearst Helmsley (To Ode to Joy for the first time) against Marc Mero. It's a really enjoyable match, made better by the story behind the match. Helmsley does lots of stuff outside the ring, including throwing a chair into the ring- but the ref stops him- Helmsley continues to try and cheat until eventually the ref just loses it and shoves Haitch. Helmsley retreats in the face of the angry official, letting Mero recover from all the tomfoolery.
  • Here's when things get crazy. Mero gets back in and counters an attempted pedigree and hits his Mero Splash. But its not enough and Helmsley survives, leading to Mero accidentally taking down the ref. The Connecticut Blue Blood uses his IC belt and tries to attack Mero. Mero counters again, takes Helmsley down and goes for the pin. But the ref is still out. Both men are down and out, and Goldust runs in. He takes both men out and Helmsley gets counted out. Marc Mero wins via count out- Helmsley retains

Part 3

  • Up next is the Executioner vs the Undertaker in an Armageddon Match (Which is a pin/submission followed by a ten count). Undertaker dominates early, but gets distracted by Paul Bearer which allows the Executioner to recover. Its not a very enjoyable match to be honest, and Taker gets back in control early. Mankind enters and Taker takes on both of them. They fight their way to the façade of a house at the front of the entrance ramp and go back to the backstage. Its all very goofy but it ends with Executioner eating and a tombstone for the pin. The ref forgets the stipulation and tries to raise Undertaker's hand before remembering to start the count. Undertaker wins via Pinfall

(The Armageddon Match- Slow, uninteresting and ultimately disappointing: A Michael Bay production)

  • Our Main Event is Brett Hart vs Sycho Sid for the WWF Title with HBK on commentary. HBK heels it up about Hart, who leaps into the attack right away as Sid is removing his championship belt. It turns into a really enjoyable, match between the two of them. Sid recovers and starts to take control, before attempting a power bomb on the concrete floor. Hart survives the attempt and they get back into the ring. Hart starts beating down Sid and removes the turnbuckle cover in the process. Hart goes to lock in the Sharp Shooter but is tossed from the ring.
  • With the ref checking on Sid, Stone Cold attacks Hart, damaging his leg. Owen and Bulldog make the save and pull Austin away. Hart, now limping, goes back into the ring. The obvious spot of being thrown into the turnbuckle is whiffed on the first attempt, so they do it again and Hart eats the exposed steel. Sid hits the chokeslam, but Hart kicks out. Hart responds by grabbing a chair, but Sid levels him before he can use it. Sid then gets into it with Michaels, who leaps up onto the apron to confront Sid. Sid tosses Hart into Michaels, who goes flying. Hart stumbles, and Sid puts him into a Power Bomb for the pin and the win. Sycho Sid wins via pinfall.

Grade: C+ (New Feature!)- Great main event and a good Marc Mero-Helmsley match, but the rest was pretty forgettable.
