WWE Battleground match card and line-up

Here's the current WWE "Battleground" 2013 match card and line up for the pay-per-view scheduled for Sun., Oct. 6, 2013, at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York.

The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Battleground event set to take place on Sun., Oct. 6, 2013, at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York. This will be the first time this particular event is taking place and if there's a theme, it remains unclear what exactly that entails.

We're now officially just one week out from showtime and only three matches are now official for the show so far.

- Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan (WWE championship)

This was always the direction and will likely continue to be the direction for another month or even more. There have been rumors circulating, or at least there's been a mention of as much, that a discussion has taken place about making this an Iron Man match. If that's not the stipulation they add to it, that doesn't mean we won't get some sort of gimmick match, though if that will occur it's likely going to be announced on the go home edition of Monday Night Raw. Don't hold your breath too much, it could just be something like Triple H inserting himself as special guest referee to ensure fairness. .... .... ... Oh dear god.

- Alberto Del Rio vs. Rob Van Dam (World heavyweight championship Hardcore Rules)

A rematch here wasn't a given, as the world heavyweight title picture has left a lot to be desired, but the way they got here was rather genius, incorporating Van Dam and Del Rio into the main Triple H power trip storyline. He apparently set RVD up to be attacked by ADR after Van Dam assisted Bryan against The Shield on Raw last week. Then, on last week's episode of SmackDown, it was announced that this will be a Hardcore Rules match. That could make it fun.

- CM Punk vs. Ryback

No special stipulation for this one, just a grudge match thanks to the fact that Ryback is responsible for giving Paul Heyman a victory over Punk on PPV. Naturally, Heyman has taken that all the way to calling himself the new best in the world, which works well for what they're doing. Ryback is the muscle, though, and Punk will again have to work through that to get to his former mentor. Questions abound on potential match quality, especially considering how banged up Punk continues to be.

That's the card so far, Cagesiders. You buying yet?
