On this date in WWF history: Kennel from Hell in a Cell

The infamous Kennel in a Cell match from "Unforgiven 1999" took place on this date in history (Sept. 26) with World Wrestling Federation Hardcore Champion Al Snow defeating Big Boss Man in one of the worst matches in the history of pro wrestling.

Pro wrestling has never been worse than it was on this date in WWF history (Sept. 26, 1999) when Hardcore Champion Al Snow defended his title against Big Boss Man at the Unforgiven pay-per-view (PPV) event in Charlotte, North Carolina.

This was literally one of the worst matches in the history of the business. That's the entire industry, not just the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), but every single promotion to run shows over the past however many years you want to go back.

That's how bad it was.

The build to the match was ridiculous. By today's standards, we might actually be happy with the fact that they actually bothered to write up a legitimate storyline for them but it was beyond insane the storylines they thought up.

I'll go ahead and let Wikipedia break it down:

During the Fall of 1999, Snow replaced Head with a chihuahua named Pepper, who he claimed talked to him, leading to the Big Boss Man kidnapping Pepper. Boss Man agreed to return the dog if Snow defeated him in a match for the Hardcore title; however, after losing the match, he reneged and kept the dog. Later, in a segment on SmackDown, Boss Man invited Snow to his hotel room to discuss the situation, before serving Snow dinner which was then revealed to be Pepper. This led to the two competing in a "Kennel from Hell" match at Unforgiven, which consisted of a regular cage which was surrounded by a Hell in a Cell structure, with "savage dogs" in between the two, and the objective was to escape both cages without being attacked by the dogs. Al Snow won the match, also ending the feud between him and Boss Man.

Sounds dumb as hell, right? It's even worse when you watch it.
