Bryan thinks Cena's absence is good for WWE?

Bryan comments on Cena's absence, WWE 2K14 info released, WWE developmental talents released, and more!

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact; so remember to take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • Undoubtedly, the anti-John Cena sect of fans are continuing to enjoy the break from him while he is out recovering from triceps surgery. While WWE itself may not like having their top star on the shelf, at least one other main event level superstar is agreeing with the fans who argue that an extended break from Cena will be good in the long-term for all parties involved. Daniel Bryan said the following in a recent interview with CBS-19 in Cleveland, OH, mirroring the opinion of many fans:

"I think right now it's a great thing because it gives other guys an opportunity to step up and fill that spot that Cena's been in for years. When Cena's on the roster, it's X amount of time every show is devoted to John Cena. Now it's being given to other guys who have the opportunity to shine, and that's better for when John Cena comes back because now we have John Cena, we have me, we have other guys who are stepping up and becoming stars."

    Agree with the bearded one?
  • 2K Sports has released 11 of the 45 WrestleMania Mode matches which will be included in WWE 2K14. I'll let you look up the entire list, but some of the most notable ones include Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat at WrestleMania 3, Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant at WrestleMania 3, and Yokozuna vs. Bret Hart at WrestleMania IX.
  • WWE released three developmental talents yesterday. The most notable is Jake Carter (the son of former superstar Vader), who has been in developmental since 2011. Also released were Irish wrestler Luther Ward and Gambian wrestler Malik Omari.
  • WWE's house show tour will be in Texas this weekend where Rey Mysterio is scheduled to appear. It is said that he is healthy enough to return to action but WWE is holding him off TV until their Mexican tour in October.
