Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact; so remember to take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- Many were excited when it was strongly implied that the Kane vs. Bray Wyatt match at SummerSlam would be an Inferno match. Well, it may or it may not be. WWE is using the terminology "Ring of Fire" to describe it in their official preview. What the difference may be, if any, is unknown at this time. There have been four Inferno matches in WWE history, all involving Kane. The last took place at Armageddon 2006 between Kane and MVP.
- We already know that WWE 2K14 will feature Ultimate Warrior, Randy Savage, and (if you buy the special edition Undertaker edition) Undertaker's "American Badass" persona. However, that may not be the end of the games expanded roster. In a recent interview, game developer Bryan Williams hinted at the inclusion of more surprise former superstars. Two of the names that have come up in rumors are Goldberg and Scott Hall. Goldberg only served to fuel the rumors on Twitter when a fan asked about his inclusion in the game:
- WWE has officially applied to trademark "Second City Saint", almost certainly in regard to CM Punk. This probably means it will start appearing on merchandise soon.
- WWE has removed the profile of NXT wrestler Garrett Dylan from their website. Though there is no official word, it is believed that he has been released. Dylan, real name Jody Kristofferson, is the son of actor Kris Kristofferson.
