In one of the worst stories you will read today (via LehighValleyLive.com, HT: Gawker) , a 26-year-old woman named Amanda Catherine Hein went to a pub with three male friends in Lower Saucon Township in Pennslyvania to watch the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view (PPV) that took place back on Aug. 18, 2013.
During the show, Hein excused herself to the bathroom where she remained for some 40 minutes. During that time, her friends texted her to see if she was okay but received no response. Eventually, she made her way back to the group to continue watching the show.
One of her friends noticed blood on her, but she refused any assistance and finished the PPV, which reportedly ran for another hour. She was then driven home by the same friend who noticed the blood.
Now, the horror: While she was in the bathroom, Hein gave birth to a healthy baby boy. At that point, she wrapped the infant in a plastic bag and placed him in a toilet tank, where the child died by way of suffocation.
The death was ruled a homicide and the woman was arrested. If convicted, she could be looking at the death penalty. She is currently being held without bail.
What makes this needless killing even more senseless is the fact that Pennsylvania has a Safe Haven Law, which states any woman can drop off a newborn baby at any hospital, totally anonymously, and not face any consequences.
