Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact; so remember to take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- WWE's Smackdown tour had a second event in Cape Town, South Africa yesterday and, luckily, there were no more attacks on the superstars, worked or otherwise. It was a fairly standard affair, with mostly faces winning on the midcard (Justin Gabriel and Rob Van Dam each picked up wins.) Randy Orton was healthy enough to wrestle, and defeated Wade Barrett. The main event was perhaps the most noteworthy match, being a fatal 4-way for the World Heavyweight Championship between Alberto Del Rio, Dolph Ziggler, Sheamus, and Jack Swagger. Del Rio obviously retained.
- In a recent interview, CM Punk was asked to play some word association when asked about some of his fellow WWE superstars. Most interestingly was his response for Daniel Bryan: "Second best wrestler in the world." Agree?
- In addition to the Rock being on the standard game cover, and Ultimate Warrior being part of the pre-order DLC, it is also believed that 2K Sports is preparing a "special edition" version of WWE 2K14 with the Undertaker on the cover. They've been tweeting out close-up pictures of him just as they did for Ultimate Warrior, and pictures of the game cover are popping up online along with a coffin shaped tin. (Google it.)
