WWE MAIN EVENT RESULTS & LIVE BLOG FOR MAY 8
The General here.
Broadcast is live.
We're starting with Randy Orton, king of Main Event. And he's wrestling Antonio Cesaro, the Prince of Main Event.
Cesaro is a Street Fighter character. I don't care what anyone says. He's a mix of Guile, Sagat, and M. Bison. Might even have some Vega in there. I'm talking American version, like Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo for SNES.
Randy Orton vs. Antonio Cesaro
This one should be long. As per usual, I won't blog move-by-move, but I'll give you the story overview of the match.
Cesaro's offense is just awesome. It's credible, evenly paced, well executed, and makes sense within whatever match he's in. It's also easy to sell for. Really, he's kind of the perfect wrestler.
He's also really strong. Orton going dead weight and Cesaro still slamming him is incredible.
Cesaro was in control for much of the match but Orton went into his five moves of doom during his comeback. Looks like that will be his first comeback attempt because the draping DDT was countered into a neckbreaker on the ropes.
Orton took a nice bump coming off the apron on the barricade before a commercial.
Coming back from commercial, Orton hit a sweet dropkick just as Cesaro was landing during a double axehandle attempt.
While watching and live blogging this, my nephew Will and his friend came through the living room. They stopped to watch just as Orton was about to hit the superplex on Cesaro and popped HUGE when it was delivered.
Both immediately left the room right after. Play time and all that.
I gotta give it to Orton, he's working hard here. Or at least as hard as he's willing to work for a show like this in a town like this at a time like this.
Oh my god, Cesaro just countered the RKO with Swiss Death. Always so pretty.
It didn't matter because Orton hit an RKO out of nowhere soon after to get the pin.
Really good match to start the show.

Naturally, this leads to a replay of what happened on Monday Night Raw this past week between John Cena and Ryback, quite possibly the worst main event feud of the past five years, and maybe longer.
Basically, Ryback is a brute and he'll do whatever to get after Cena.
Before a commercial, they advertise another replay, this one of Brock Lesnar destroying Triple H's office at WWE headquarters in Stamford.
To its credit, the WWE Production team is outstanding. These video packages are almost always good, no matter how underwhelming the feud may be.

"WE'RE A THREE MAN BANNNNNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDDDDDD!"
The best jobbers in the business are on their way to the ring for a six-man tag team match, one Michael Cole tells us has come to be thanks to last week's match that saw Justin Gabriel beat Heath Slater but have to deal with interference in the process.
Well, he brought friends with him this time.
3MB vs. Justin Gabriel & The Usos
Gabriel and the Usos are an odd pairing. Not much to this match so far, though. Plenty of time for commercial breaks, basically.
Just your standard six-man, really, though there was a great spot near the end when Gabriel went for a splash on all of 3MB on the outside but they caught him only to have one of the Usos come out with a splash of his own to take them out.
Right after, they went insane with finishers in the ring ending with Gabriel hitting the 450 splash on McIntyre to get the pin.
Not bad.
End.
