It was on May 11th throughout the past 62 years of pro wrestling historical events that several pay-per-views were held throughout various promotions, legends were born and icons were lost to us.

British wrestling legend Mark "Rollerball" Rocco is born Mark Hussey in Manchester, England. Rocco also gained fame in Japan as the original Black Tiger, the nemesis of the legendary Tiger Mask...

2nd Generation former UWA & WWA star Espanto, Jr. is born Jesús Andrade Salas in Gomez Palacio, Durango, Mexico. Andrade is the son of former luchador El Moro, the brother of luchadors Brilliante (Jose Andrade Salasa), Moro III, Pentagoncito & Zafiro, the father of CMLL star Espanto, Jr. and the uncle of CMLL star La Sombra.



Titles held by Espanto during his time in the WWA and the UWA include:

- UWA World Lightweight Champion
- UWA World Welterweight Champion
- WWA World Lightweight Champion
- WWA World Welterweight Champion


Former AJPW, NJPW, FMW & WAR star and the owner/promoter of World Entertainment Wrestling (WEW), Hiromichi "Samson" Fuyuki (d. 3.19.03) is born in Tokyo, Japan....

Titles held by Fuyuki during his many decades in the industry included:

- AJPW All-Asia Tag Team Champion
- FMW Independent Heavyweight Champion
- FMW Brass Knuckles Heavyweight Champion
- FMW Brass Knuckles Tag Team Champion

Former WCW & WWF/E star Billy Kidman is born Peter Alan Gruner, Jr. in Allentown, PA...

Titles that Kidman made notable during his run in the wrestling industry included the:

NWA, JAPW & CZW star, "The Midnight Idol" Nick Berk is born in Philadelphia, PA...

Titles that Berk held during his time in the NWA, JAPW and CZW promotions included the following:

- JAPW Light Heavyweight Champion
- NWA Force 1 Heritage Champion
- NWA Force 1 Iron League Champion


We are graced with the birth of a lovely member of the industry on this date back in 1983, Cagesiders. Former ROH, CHIKARA & SHIMMER star, Daizee Haze is born in Cape Girardeau, MO...



Titles held by Daizee Haze while in the industry included:

- APW (California) Future Legend Champion
- IWA Mid-South Women's Champion
- NWA Midwest Women's Champion
- SHIMMER Tag Team Champion


We lost a great contribution to the industry on this date back in 1992. EMLL & UWA legend René Guajardo, who was born Manuel Guajardo Mejorado on the fourth of January in 1933 in Villa Mainero, Tamaulipas, Mexico passes away of complications resulting from liver cancer at age 59.

Following his in-ring career, Guajardo worked as a promoter and talent scout for UWA and is credited as being the man who brought Chris Benoit, Owen Hart, and Too Cold Scorpio to the UWA after meeting them on a tour of CWA in Germany.



Titles held by Guajardo included the following:

- EMLL Mexican National Middleweight Champion
- EMLL Mexican National Tag Team Champion
- NWA World Middleweight Champion
- UWA World Middleweight Champion

Highlights from the event included Karis la Momia, Arunyo & Killer defeating Blue Demon, Jr., El Torero & Máscara Sagrada, Jr. Additional matches on the card included:

- Jerry Estrada and Juventud Guerrera defeated El Pantera and Super Caló 2 out of 3 Falls
- Cibernético, El Picudo & Mosco de la Merced defeated Octagón, Último Dragón & La Parka.
- Konnan & Perro Aguayo defeated Pierroth, Jr. & Cien Caras in a Lumberjack match.


The ECW A Matter of Respect '96 event occurred...



The highlight of the event involved Raven defeating The Sandman & Pitbull #2 in a 3-Way Dance to retain the ECW World Heavyweight Championship. Also worth noting, Shane Douglas defeated Too Cold Scorpio to win the ECW World Television Championship, Rob Van Dam defeated Sabu, and Tommy Dreamer & The Gangstas defeated Primetime Brian Lee & The Eliminators. Also on the card:

- El Puerto Ricano defeated Damien
- Damien Kane & Devon Storm defeated The Dudley Boyz by DQ
- J.T. Smith & Little Guido defeated Axl Rotten & "The Shah" Hack Meyers
- Taz defeated Biff Wellington
- Chris Jericho defeated Mikey Whipwreck

Highlights of the event included Triple H, aka Hunter Hearst Helmsley, defeating Flash Funk and Mankind defeating Rocky Maivia. The Nation of Domination defeated Ahmed Johnson in a Gauntlet match, Ken Shamrock defeated Vader in a No Holds Barred match, and The Undertaker defeated Stone Cold Steve Austin to retain the WWF Championship. Also on the card:

- Free For All match: Rockabilly defeated Jesse James
- Post PPV Dark Match: The Legion of Doom defeated WWF Tag Team Champions Owen Hart & The British Bulldog by DQ.


The TNA Sacrifice '08 pay-per-view event occurred...

The highlight of the event was when the Latin American XChange defeated Team 3D in the finals of the Deuce's Wild tournament to win the vacant TNA World Tag Team Championship. Also, Samoa Joe defeated Scott Steiner & Kaz in a 3-Way Dance to retain the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Also on the card:

Deuce's Wild Tournament Quarterfinals
- Team 3D defeated James Storm & Sting
- Christian Cage and Rhino defeated Booker T and Robert Roode
- LAX defeated Kip James and Matt Morgan
- A.J. Styles & Super Eric defeated B.G. James & Awesome Kong

- Team 3D defeated Christian Cage & Rhino
- LAX defeated A.J. Styles & Super Eric

- Kaz defeated Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin, Consequences Creed, Curry Man, Jay Lethal, Jimmy Rave, Johnny Devine, Shark Boy, and Sonjay Dutt in a TerrorDome match to become #1 Contender to the TNA X-Division Championship and win a spot in the main event.

- Gail Kim defeated Angelina Love, Christy Hemme, Jackie Moore, ODB, Salinas, Rhaka Khan, Roxxi Laveaux, Traci Brooks, and Velvet Sky in a Battle Royale to become #1 Contender to the TNA Women's Knockouts Championship.


A legendary women's star passes away. Judy Grable was born as Nellya Baughman on the 21st of August in 1935 in Bolivar, TN. She went by the moniker of "The Barefoot Contessa" during her time in the business. Unfortunately, she succumbed to complications resulting from Alzheimer's Disease at the age of 72 on this date in 2008.

1976 - The Executioners (Killer Kowalski & Big John Studd) defeat Louis Cerdan & Tony Parisi to win the WWWF World Tag Team Championship.

1976 - Killer Karl Kox & Bulldog Bob Sweetan defeat Ted DiBiase & Dick Murdoch to win the NWA United States (Tri-State) Tag Team Championship.

1981 - "Big Cat" Ernie Ladd defeats Kerry Von Erich to win the NWA American Heavyweight Heavyweight Championship.

2007 - "Lightning" Mike Quackenbush defeats Tiger Mask IV to win the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship.

2010 - LayCool (Layla & Michelle McCool) defeats Beth Phoenix in a Texas Tornado Handicap Match. Layla pins Phoenix to win the WWE Women's Championship.
