Cageside Features: Our very own Cageside 'REC' Awards, for "Recognizing Excellence in Contributions from the Cageside Community". Are you a winner of the Interwebs? Could you be? Let's find out...

We're back with yet another dose of amazing work injected by you, the Cageside commenters. Many of you have impressed us all by producing some amazing work and golden comments yet again. So it's that time of the week to recognize the excellent FanPosts, FanShots, and comments that were the "Best in the World" (of Cageside) this past week.

As always, thanks to Cagesider Ecstasy with Extra Cheese for cleverly naming our Weekly Cageside Commenters Awards "The RECs", which perfectly sums up what this feature tries to do. After all, without all of you, Cageside Seats would not be the greatest pro wrestling website on the Internet.

So, without further ado, we present to you...

The cSs REC Awards:

From the "WWE Hall of Fame 2013 class the deepest ever; Jim Ross addresses physical location plans" thread:

I can only imagine all the wonderful pro wrestling artifacts and displays they could have.

The Katie Vick coffin, Shockmaster's helmet, Undertaker's magic spittoon, Mick Foley's ear, Big bossman's night stick, Rick Martel's cologne sprayer, Tony Schiavone and maybe an interactive Vince McMahon kiss my ass club display, you know for the kids :D

Don't know about a cable channel but the museum idea would be worth a $15 entry ticket.

From the "The Rock explains why he's working with john cena in his return to WWE" thread:

Bryan would be as viable as Punk

if he hadn't been booked as a comedy act over the last 6 months or so. As it stands there is absolutely nothing that would make the viewer think Bryan had any business being in the ring with The Rock. I can't remember one match he's had where he looked strong since joining up with Kane. Which is OK, he's still super over and it was something to do up until WrestleMania but he's not a viable WHC or WWE contender at all right now.

Bryan's "image" needs to be rebuilt if they're ever going to have him run at a title again because as it stands he's that guy with the beard that says Yes! and No!

From the "John Cena vs. CM Punk match from Raw last night (Feb. 25) pissed off Vince McMahon" thread:

I have said this in the past regarding high-flying moves, and I will say this now for more power-related moves:

Unlike cranial-directed chair shots, which are dangerous no matter who does them, moves like the Shooting Star Press and the Piledriver can actually be the hands of someone who is trained and experienced enough to do it safely. It's like the Bruce Lee saying about (rough paraphrase) someone who has practiced one kick 10 thousand times being better than someone who has practiced 10 thousand different kicks.

Punk is a veteran, and a well-trusted guy considering he's been regularly put up against high-value superstars like Cena, Jericho, and the Rock. He may not quite be as venerable in years and experience as Triple H or the Undertaker, but he is still one of those people you can more than likely trust to wield a piledriver. Someone answer me: has Punk ever legit injured someone in the ring, and if so, how long ago was the last recorded incidence? Because I certainly can't remember any injuries caused by him during his WWE run.

Bottom line: are there legit safety issues involved with pro wrestling and certain high-risk moves? Yes, of course. There always will be, and banning those moves may not necessarily be the way to fix them. Most safety issues can be mitigated by proper care and training, and I believe this is one of them.

Of course, there might be some punishment involved. I expect a token fine levied against Punk (and maybe Cena, too), but nothing worse. But that's not the point. The point is, if you can't trust one of your top guys to perform a move safely, maybe it's not entirely their fault. Maybe you need to make sure they're trained properly.

Everything written above is my weird-ass opinion, and very likely no one else's.
Time to spread a little chaos...

From the "CSS Weekday Wrestling Rumor Roundup for Monday, Feb. 25" thread:

easy peazy:

Punk cuts epic promo to end Raw, Raw ends with Lesnar coming out. Lesnar extends his hand, Punk reluctantly shakes it and gets F-5'd.

The next week, Lesnar and Heyman cut a promo about how Lesnar has always been Paul's favorite, how ending the Streak was HIS job. Punk was just a novelty for Heyman, he never liked him, hell, Heyman screwed him out of the title with the Shield. Brock cuts in with the obligatory, because every sword needs a shield, as they come down out of the stands.

Boom, set up for months.

Easy answer: Jericho Jobs and puts over talent...

Case in point, last Monday When he put over the Shield in a promo then he took the pin in there match later in the night.

Also Jericho wrestles on Raw and Smackdown, while Rocky, and Brock just show up

What everyone else said

1. He works every show and actually wrestles, doesn't just come and cut promos
2. He isn't injected straight to the main event
3. He puts over rising talent
4. He is generally awesome
5. Oh and one more: Jericho is an internet darling. He'd have to do something pretty heinous to get the IWC to turn on him.

There you have it.

Also -- The Rock comes back, cuts some ok promos, then has two so-so matches with CM Punk

Lesner comes back, F-5's some fools, vanishes

Jericho comes back, is nearly the Royal Rumble Iron Man, then puts on 3 long singles matches on TV, goes into the Elimination Chamber and then the next night goes out and gets Shield-ed.

Brock and the Rock give us nostalgia pop. Jericho gives us darn good matches.

Interesting take by Y2J -

But let's see here, Rock is a movie star and is in big time demand in Hollywood so his schedule only allots him a small window to perform in WWE. If Jericho was in such high demand anywhere else he wouldn't be in WWE. Touring with Fozzy for 3-4 months and the having 7-8 months to give WWE isn't the same as filming while also working for WWE. So in the case of Rock, he's not gonna wrestle a full schedule. If he breaks a limb while wrestling in WWE, he kills a movie budget and shuts filming down causing hundreds of other workers to lose pay. Either way it goes, Rock is in a tough spot.

Brock Lesnar is an athletic man beast who has broken PPV records outside of WWE. So he's had great success outside of wrestling like Rock has. Lesnar could get big time money fighting in any MMA company in the world. Lesnar, like Rock or even Austin for that matter can call his own shot.

Rock and Lesnar are in positions of strength and have massive leverage over Vince. Instead of being lauded for the positions that they have earned on their own, Rock dropped the WWE name in Hollywood and had to prove himself as an actor and as a movie star. Lesnar had to win his own fights on his own and train on his own, they are vilified for it. Why when in any industry, this is what happens when you are the best.

One of the things that is so funny is that in the history of wrestling, wrestlers have wanted to be in the exact same position as Rock and Lesnar and many have failed and crawled back to Vince for his downside guarantee contract. Rock and Lesnar earned this right and they get scorned for it. We should be cheering them because they are really raking Vince for his cash, they actually defeated the machine of wrestling and its history of leaving its top stars crippled or dead but WWE has pushed Rock and Lesnar as spoiled part timers. Cena and Punk aren't cutting those promo's on their own, those are Vince's promo's.

Vince McMahon, the wrestling promoter, hates both of these guys because he wants to suck every inch of money out their asses he can. How can the "IWC" be on the side of the wrestling promoter? Well they will be on Vince's side because he used CM Punk as his mouthpiece. The most favored son of the IWC and one who for sure won't spew company line in his promo's. It's such BS. Rock and Lesnar beat Vince. They left on their own terms to pursue careers without his backing and without his help. If I was a wrestler I'd pick the Rock's brain about what he did and how hard he had to work and how to do it instead of jealously vilifying him for taking advantage of Vince McMahon, not the fans, Vince McMahon.

These two guys that came from wrestling, have made their way to other successes and have no need to wrestle ever again but they are wrestling, just on their terms.

"Everybody said, 'Well, they're better without Carmelo' and all this nonsense," Bryant told reporters. "You guys really put the hammer on him, and as a result, he kind of got a little gun shy and a little self-conscious about things.

From the "WWE brilliantly hypes Monday Night Raw with Undertaker return at house show" thread:

I never pictured the Undertaker being bald for his final run in WWE.

I always pictured him coming back as like, a Gandalf the White for his final run. White hair, white beard, and such. I am a huge fan of the Deadman, ever since I saw his entrance at Wrestlemania 9, but its weird for me to see him in kind of a broken down state. I hope he can pull off one more great match, and my two options would be Punk or DBry, as I feel they could really get a great match out of him.
