Rumor Roundup for Friday, March 29

Jeff Jarrett done in TNA? - WikiMedia Commons

Undertaker note, World Heavyweight Title picture in 2013, former TNA star done with company? And more!

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we will be taking a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact; so remember to take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • As you may have seen, Undertaker is being advertised for a SmackDown taping on April 23 from London, England. It is believed that this will be a "dark match" appearance in order to sell more tickets for the event. It could very well be Undertaker's last appearance in the UK.
  • Early backstage word hints that 2013 will be a year in which Alberto Del Rio dominates the World Heavyweight Championship picture. WWE is serious about pushing him as the next major Mexican babyface and though he might not hold the title that entire time, he will never be far from the picture. It is believed that Del Rio will successfully defend his title against Jack Swagger at WrestleMania 29 and then again at Extreme Rules, where early advertising info has revealed they are scheduled to have a submission match. Mr. Money in the Bank, Dolph Ziggler, will also figure into that title picture in some way.
  • Speaking of Del Rio, in WWE's ongoing quest to expand their creative department, they are looking to hire a Hispanic telenovela writer in order to better target the Hispanic audience.
  • A few days ago, we mentioned that Maria Menounos is expected to be announced as the person who will induct Bob Backlund into the WWE Hall of Fame. WWE has now made it official.
  • Just in case you've been wondering, Jeff Jarrett is likely done in TNA. A conscious decision was made not to bring him back for any of TNA's "One Night Only" taped pay-per-view events. Jarrett hasn't wrestled a televised match for the company since 2011, and has been spending more time with AAA in Mexico. He also oversees the Ring Ka King in India.
