Show the ladies some love. On March 12, 2003, longtime female professional wrestler Patricia Schroeder, known only best by her professional wrestling moniker "Leilani Kai," won the NWA Women's Championship by defeating Madison at one of the Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) events held each week at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds in Nashville, TN.

Remember those?

Archaic marks like myself remember her brief stint as World Wrestling Federation (WWF) Women's Champion (defeating Wendi Richter) and Tag Team Champion (with Judy Martin) back in the mid-eighties, but she also had a nice run with Martin as "The Glamour Girls," which started in the WWF before moving over to the Ladies Professional Wrestling Association (LPWA).

Other archaic mark like fellow editor J. M. Williams, recall Kai briefly making an appearance in 1994 to the then WWF Universe, challenging for the Women's Championship back at WrestleMania X towards the tail end of her in-ring career. She also wrestled for World Championship Wrestling (WCW) under the name Patty Stonegrinder.

Kai, who was inducted into the NWA Hall Of Fame in October 2000, was eventually stripped of her championship title in mid-2004 after failing to defend it in a timely manner, and no-showing several events.

She was still making sporadic appearances as recently as last year, but most of her (limited) involvement with pro wrestling at this stage is as a trainer.

Some highlights of some of her Classic moments below for your viewing enjoyment...

NWA Main Event Classics: 'Leilani Kai vs.Christie Ricci', circa February 8, 2003:

Leilani Kai brings the roughhousing -- and "that nerve hold she learned over there in the Orient" -- to Penny Mitchell in this televised gem:

The great Leilani Kai - "probably from Kauai," according to ring announcer Bill Mercer - tangles with Penny Mitchell in this 1984 WCCW TV match:

Any of you other archaic Cagesiders remember any of this stuff? Got some other favorite links to share? Throw them in the comments.
