AJ Lee, Dolph Ziggler and Big E Langston on WWE 'Main Event' Feb. 13, 2013
Attempt after attempt, I keep trying to write this post but its so hard to even start when I cannot seem to wrap my mind around the problem at hand. You see, like many of you, I'm a big Dolph Ziggler fan. The man has a lot of potential, and is on the cusp of breaking out to that next level.
At least he was.
There was a time, when I looked forward to Ziggler's matches, not too long ago, in fact. For what seemed like an eternity, I wanted him to break away from Vikki, as in my opinion she was holding him back. Well, be careful what you wish for, because that's exactly what has happened. And it's killing him.
When Dolph hooked up with the hot (and not just physically) AJ, I saw it as a sign. The two seemed perfect for each other. I still think they are. But it's all floundering, because of their third wheel, Big E Langston. Don't get me wrong, I don't blame everything on Big E, but what exactly is he adding to the group? Ziggler is the head of this mini-stable and he can't get a win with the help of a beast like Big E, or the distractions of AJ.
When was the last time Ziggler got a notable win? He is constantly Jobbing out to the main eventers. In fact, most of his matches go the same way now:
Ziggler works hard, looks great... until the tide turns. AJ does a distraction. Big E hits the opponent and leans smiling against the guard rail. After all that interference, what happens? Dolph loses. His opponent looks great, but the other three? Not so much.
AJ is losing her heat, Dolph is coming off like a loser, and Big E is kind of a joke. If three people working together can't beat someone -- anyone, well then, what's the point?
It would be nice to see Ziggler get a win over other jobbers like Zack Ryder, or Santino, but that doesn't happen.
Some of you will disagree with me. After all, he's got the briefcase, so when he's champion none of that will matter. But it will. Ziggler can't go into a good title run with this kind of booking. He may keep the title for a few months, but it will be a transitional reign, like most Money In The Bank winners. After he loses the title, he will get pushed back down the card in favor of others; like Del Rio or Mark Henry.
Like I said before, I'm a big Ziggler fan. He just oozes potential, but I don't think he is destined for the greatness he is capable of. I think he'll be around a long time. Much like Curt Henning, he'll have a job as long as he can keep putting people over well, but there will always be someone more favored by the brass at WWE.
Its a sad truth and I really hope I'm wrong. I'll keep cheering for him, I'll keep buying his shirts, and I'll purchase any PPV that he is a major focus of. After all, that's the only real way to get your voice heard by WWE. You have to vote with your money, and vote I shall. At least until Ziggler is where I want him to be. (That's THE TOP my CSS friends, I want him at The Top.)
