Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact; so remember to take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • We noted yesterday that Rey Mysterio was seen limping after his Raw run-in on Monday night. It is being said that Rey was not physically ready to return, but WWE asked him to anyway as part of large team events where he can be protected. Slight Smackdown spoiler - Rey was able to participate in a 6-man tag match on Tuesday's Smackdown taping set for air this Friday. Mysterio is also set to be the 5th member of the babyface team along with Cody Rhodes, Goldust, and the Usos at Survivor Series, another match in which he can be protected from injury.
  • We've mentioned before that Roman Reigns is reportedly set for a "monster" push in 2014, and it sounds like he may be joined by Big E Langston when it comes to newer superstars getting pushed to the top. Langston, who just won the Intercontinental title from Curtis Axel on this past week's Raw and is expected to retain it in a rematch against Axel at Survivor Series, is said to have some major supporters backstage who believe he has long-term main event potential. Langston would also potentially give WWE the main event level African-American babyface superstar they've been rumored to desire for some time now.
  • After spending several weeks backstage with the main roster at various television tapings, Xavier Woods made his main roster debut in a tag team with R-Truth this past Monday on Raw. Another NXT talent who was backstage at this week's tapings was Judas Devlin. Rumors several weeks ago indicated that WWE may be considering an expansion of the Wyatt Family, and Devlin may end up being their new addition.
  • Another NXTer who currently seems destined for big things, as we mentioned before, is the heavyweight Alexander Rusev. Rusev reportedly defeated Sami Zayn, largely considered NXT's top babyface, at a recent NXT house show and will get a shot at Dolph Ziggler at the upcoming NXT taping.
  • It has been some time since there has been an update on WWE's interest in New Japan Pro Wrestling star, Prince Devitt. Recent rumors indicate that talks with Devitt have been strictly informal, and no offer has been made. Devitt has been telling people that he expects to remain with New Japan in 2014.
  • Preston City Wrestling in the UK will get a mention here for the second day in a row, this time for announcing that former heavyweight boxing champion, Riddick Bowe, will make his pro wrestling debut for the company in February or March of next year.
