More details on Cena's injury, Mysterio hurt again? Layla hurt again? Ryback heat, and more!

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact; so remember to take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • Last week, we mentioned that John Cena was still dealing with injuries and was "really hurting" after each match on the grueling European tour. It was unknown then if the injury was related to the torn triceps he had surgery on or was a new injury, but reports now indicate that it is indeed the triceps. His rush back to action in less than half the time originally estimated is said to be contributing to the pain.
  • Speaking of injuries, Rey Mysterio was reportedly limping after his Raw run-in on Monday night. Mysterio was dealing with a knee injury over the past year and past rumors indicated that his return to television may have been delayed into 2014 to give him more time to heal. That turned out not the be the case, but perhaps it should have.
  • Layla is another member of the roster believed to be dealing with a knee injury. She has not wrestled since September despite WWE using every Diva available at times for multi-person tag matches and gimmick matches, and also did not travel with the roster for their European tour last week. At age 36 and with WWE focusing on younger women in the division, one has to wonder if Layla's time with the company may be up.
  • After defending his (officially vacated) TNA World Heavyweight title in Mexico and Japan, AJ Styles' next trip with the title may be the United Kingdom. At a Preston City Wrestling show over the weekend, PCW Heavyweight champion, Lionheart, announced to fans that his next opponent would be "phenomenal," and challenged Styles. Styles later responded on Twitter with "Lets go," potentially setting up a champion vs. champion match. TNA is also working with a number of other independent wrestling companies (including some in the US) trying to set up matches for Styles, all of which are believed to be getting filmed by TNA for later use.
