The upcoming Survivor Series pay-per-view (PPV) event this coming Sun., Nov. 24, 2013, at the TD Garden Arena in Boston, Massachusetts, will, in fact, feature a traditional elimination style tag match, this one five-on-five. It will be The Shield teaming with the Real Americans to take on the Rhodes brothers, the Usos, and a mystery partner, as announced by WWE earlier today.
WWE.com has learned that WWE Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes & Goldust, The Usos and a mystery partner will battle The Shield and The Real Americans in a blockbuster Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match!
Featuring many of WWE's most exciting and explosive Superstars, this talent-laden contest guarantees high-octane action at WWE's fall classic. The Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match stipulates that the teams will compete in a five-on-five tag contest with the added twist that Superstars are eliminated individually - via pinfall, submission, disqualification or count-out - until one squad has no members remaining. Making the WWE fan favorite contest even more exciting this year is the fact that all the combatants are already quite familiar with one another.
The mystery partner part is intriguing if only because if one were so inclined one might cook up a scenario in which Undertaker pays homage to his own debut at Survivor Series back in 1990 as a surprise member of The Million Dollar Team. He's got a reason to do so, too, considering The Shield were the ones who knocked him out of action earlier this year.
Alas, the actual reveal will almost surely be far more disappointing.
Either way, we're getting the traditional Survivor Series match we wanted, no? Or at least we're getting one at all and that ain't not bad, folks.
UPDATE: The mystery partner is Rey Mysterio, who returned on Raw.
Here's the updated Survivor Series match card:
- Randy Orton vs. Big Show (WWE championship)
- John Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio (World heavyweight championship)
- CM Punk & Daniel Bryan vs. Wyatt Family
