Although it was nearly derailed by a power outage at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York, tonight's (Sun., Oct. 6, 2013) Battleground pay-per-view (PPV) main event WWE championship match between Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan went on as planned.
And it was something else.
Indeed, Bryan and Orton, who have repeatedly shown they have such great chemistry together, put together one hell of a match. The finish, set up quite well, saw Orton miss an RKO and Bryan miss on a follow up kick to the head. Orton tried a roll up but Bryan kicked out and reversed it into the Yes! Lock.
Then, Big Show arrived.
He came running down to knock out the referee, then deliver the WMD to Bryan. He looked conflicted about it, though, and when Brad Maddox came out to send referee Scott Armstrong down, Show pulled him out and knocked him out before he could count the fall for Orton.
Show followed this up by climbing in the ring and knocking out Orton, who was berating him.
A shocked Maddox looked on from the ramp while Show's music played, ending the evening with no finish to a main event that almost didn't happen thanks to a power outage.
After a finish like that, I'm sure quite a few fans are wishing it didn't.
