WWE Battleground results: CM Punk pins Ryback after low blow

Ed Webster

CM Punk defeated Ryback at WWE "Battleground" tonight (Oct. 6, 2013) in Buffalo, New York, pinning "The Big Guy" after a low blow.

It was billed as the second most important match on the card and it was given the co-main event slot -- cool down be damned -- at tonight's (Sun., Oct. 6, 2013) WWE Battleground pay-per-view (PPV) at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York.

I'm talking, of course, about CM Punk vs. Ryback.

It had plenty to live up to going in. The Rhodes brothers and The Shield put on arguably a five-star match earlier in the night, one the crowd was absolutely bonkers for. Was there any emotion left for these two?

Yes. And no.

The energy wasn't the same but the crowd got up for it when the time was right. It's no surprise, really, considering Ryback is still relatively green when it comes to big money match-ups like this. It didn't help that the finish was somewhat odd, with Paul Heyman getting caught trying to interfere and Punk taking advantage of the referee being distracted by hitting a low blow on Ryback that surprisingly got the pinfall.

That'll do.
