Rumor Roundup for Thursday, October 3 - Hall of Fame, Vince, NXT, and More!

Vince McMahon close to returning to television?

Big name close to hall of fame induction, Vince close to a return to television? Lots of NXT news, and more!

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact; so remember to take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • It is looking more and more as though the Ultimate Warrior will headline the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2014. Warrior and Vince McMahon reportedly had a meeting during the weekend of SummerSlam where his induction was discussed. Also likely to be inducted is D-Generation X as a group.
  • Speaking of Vince, it was planned that he would return to WWE television sometime in November to get involved in the Triple H "best for business" storyline. With this past Monday's Raw posting an extremely poor rating, it is believed that those plans may be sped up and that Vince may be back on television sooner rather than later. While it may not be enough to compete with the likes of Monday Night Football, Vince appearing on television does generally give ratings a decent boost.
  • WWE has signed wrestler Pierre Marceau to a developmental contract. The 6'4 244 Frenchman has previously worked in Irish Whip Wrestling, the promotion that also produced Drew McIntyre and Wade Barrett.
  • Speaking of NXT, former NXT tag team champion Oliver Grey is said to be close to a return after suffering a torn ACL back in March.
  • We mentioned yesterday that one of the "DLCs" (downloadable content) for WWE 2K14 is believed to be a group of playable Divas both past and present. Another, based on screenshots that are floating around the web, may be the addition of some NXT superstars to the game. None are currently included on the game's initial roster, but it would be a great way to expose more casual fans to the WWE superstars of the future if they were to be added.
  • October 1 came and went, and as a result, Hulk Hogan is officially no longer under contract with TNA. Since we talk about him so much, you should definitely check out yesterday's article regarding the circumstances of his exit from the company.
