Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that -- rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact; so remember to take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- As of right now, the plan appears to be that Daniel Bryan will not leave Hell in a Cell as WWE champion. It is currently speculated that special guest referee and the man who trained Daniel Bryan, Shawn Michaels, will turn heel in order to precipitate Bryan's loss. It is also believed that Vince McMahon will return to television, possibly as soon as the next week's Raw, to take "the Authority" angle on its next step. It is expected that the Big Show will be revealed as Vince's pawn, with Vince being the one to allow Big Show into the building when he was supposed to be fired, thus setting the hotly rumored match between Show and Triple H at Survivor Series next month.
- Speaking of that storyline, there are some backstage who aren't happy with the way Triple H's promo on Monday night came off. In large part due to the way it was worded, it came off sounding more like Triple H burying Bryan as a performer rather than Triple H playing "the villain" to Bryan's "hero" in a way that Bryan could get back at him. If Bryan really does lose at Hell in a Cell while Triple H moves on to feud with Vince and the Big Show without Bryan ever "getting him back," this argument will seem even more pertinent.
- In something good that came out of Monday night, folks backstage were reportedly praising Luke Harper following his team tag team match with Erick Rowan against the Miz and Kofi Kingston. Harper is very smooth and athletic for his size (listed at 6'5, 260,) and looks to have a bright future in WWE.
- Now back to something negative from Monday, Dean Ambrose reportedly "tweaked" his knee during his match with Daniel Bryan when he went over the top rope. He finished the match but was seen limping backstage afterwards. The injury is not believed to be serious.
