My WWE Battleground predictions

After a lackluster Night of Champions pay-per-view, the WWE looks to redeem itself at the first ever Battleground pay-per-view at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York (the home of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres).

And so, here's what I think will happen come Sunday, October 6th:

DOLPH ZIGGLER VS. DAMIEN SANDOW (KICKOFF MATCH)

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Just last spring, Ziggler was the reigning World Heavyweight Champion as well as one of the WWE's very over babyfaces and now, he's fallen back to mid-card land. Rumor has it that the reason for Ziggler's demotion was due to the fact that WWE Officials don't think that he can draw as well which may explain why.

On the other side of the spectrum, Damien Sandow is another Superstar who finds himself without any direction after his once-promising feud with former BFF Cody Rhodes ended at SummerSlam despite being Mr. Money in the Bank.

Anyway, look for Ziggler to get the victory here.

R-TRUTH VS. CURTIS AXEL (INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP)

This feud began on last Monday's RAW, when R-Truth pinned Axel, which resulted in this match being made official. Expect Axel's reign to continue, thanks to Paul Heyman.

KOFI KINGSTON VS. BRAY WYATT

This match was announced on this week's SmackDown when Wyatt as well as Erick Rowan and Luke Harper taunted the Ghanian high-flyer both on RAW and SmackDown. Look for Wyatt to get the victory thanks to some interference from his cronies, which will set up his heavily rumored match against Kane at Hell in a Cell.

BRIE BELLA VS. A.J. LEE (DIVAS CHAMPIONSHIP)

Not since the days when Trish Stratus (who became a new mommy this week) ruled the Divas division that Lee has become one of the very over Divas with her unexpected promos.

During the summer, Lee has had a very high-profile feud with Kaitlyn and has since turned her attention to E!'s hit reality show, Total Divas (the Bella Twins and Natalya, in particular) which has resulted in this match against Brie Bella (who, by the way is engaged to fellow WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan).

Look for some interference from Lee's fellow Divas (particularly Tamina Snuka), resulting in a victory for Brie Bella, but not the title since titles can't change via disqualification.

ROB VAN DAM VS. ALBERTO DEL RIO (EXTREME RULES MATCH FOR THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP)

This feud continued after Van Dam defeated Del Rio at Night of Champions via a disqualification, which resulted in this rematch.

It's been reported that Van Dam may be leaving the WWE after his contract reportedly expires in the coming days, and so expect Del Rio to retain the title here (expect Ricardo Rodriguez to possibly turn on Van Dam here).

CODY RHODES & GOLDUST VS. SETH ROLLINS & ROMAN REIGNS

This feud began when Triple H "fired" Cody Rhodes after Rhodes lost to Randy Orton on the September 2nd episode of RAW simply because The Game despised the Rhodes Family.

In the following weeks, Goldust would lose to Orton while their father, WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes, was ambushed by both The Shield and the reluctant Big Show.

With the stipulation that should the Rhodes Brothers lose this match that he would never work in the WWE again, it would be very stupid to "future endeavor" the Rhodes Family considering that they had a last workmanship of the WWE.

With that being said, look for Cody and Goldust to get the victory here, thus continuing the Rhodes Family feud against Triple H and his wife, Stephanie McMahon.

CM PUNK VS. RYBACK

CM Punk's feud with Paul Heyman continued at the Night of Champions pay-per-view when Ryback came out of nowhere to help Heyman and Axel defeat Punk.

Look for this feud to continue when Heyman (and possibly Axel) help Ryback pin Punk, prompting a blowoff inside the cell at Hell in a Cell on Sunday, October 27th.

DANIEL BRYAN VS. RANDY ORTON (WWE CHAMPIONSHIP)

Triple H stripped Bryan of the WWE Championship on the September 16th episode of RAW, resulting in the WWE Championship being rendered vacant for the time being.

Expect the WWE Championship to continue being vacant when the Big Show knocks out Orton, causing a DQ victory for Bryan.

Look for a true WWE Champion to emerge at Hell in a Cell instead.
