King of the Ring

So yesterday, the WWE released their 2014 pay per view schedule. I honestly expected to see the same lame ass schedule we had this year (including the current PPV shit show we're in). However, to my surprise, I see they opted to put the logjam of pay per views in the beginning part of the summer, which is good news for us (I think). Anyways, some of the comment section was saying that if the King of the Ring made its comeback next year, they'd be excited. Why I'm even posting anything, is to ask...why is it that KOTR is no longer in the PPV schedule.

I always saw KOTR as the part of the main PPV lineup. Everyone mentions the big 4, but I always saw this as part of the group. It ran every year from like 1993 to (whatever year) and it just left. I get the fact that Money in the Bank is slowly becoming part of the yearly line up. However, I want to know if anyone knows why the KOTR left and if the are any rumors/plans to bring it back.
