What are y'all doing next Saturday? (National Pro Wrestling Day!)

Stay connected for news and updates

On February 2, 2013, I'm planning to be in Philadelphia, PA with another Cageside Seats staff member for the afternoon card of National Pro Wrestling Day (NPWD). Will anybody else in this awesome corner of the internet wrestling community (IWC) be there?

I'm sure we'll have more info and hype for the cards at some point this week, but the quick and dirty is that it's a free show at the Derby Ink Gardens located on 814 Spring Garden Street in Philly. There looks to be a lot of cool stuff and fun matches to see on both the afternoon and evening cards.

Me? I'm super-psyched to see "Lightning" Mike Quackenbush face-off against Colt "Boom-Boom" Cabana, and for the chance to see ACH in person after being pretty blown away by what I've seen via internet and DVD. My sleeper pick is the Kaiju Big Battel match. I had never heard of this promotion/performance art troupe before NPWD was announced, but after learning more about their "what if a superheroes and anime' characters had lucha libre matches against Gamera and Godzilla?" premise, I'm a little obsessed with them.

So, it should be cool, and the only way it could be cooler would be to share it with some fellow Cagesiders! Our plans are not set in stone, so if this inspires you to make a trip to the show, shoot me an email (addy available in the masthead) and we can talk details that way.

Or if you were already planning to go, look out for us. I'll post a pic in the comments of this fanpost with the cSs sign I plan to make and bring. I'll also probably be wearing this shirt:

Scaled_php_medium

as I figure the odds are pretty small that someone else is enough of a peep to rep the Captain with one of his TNA tees.

Look for reactions posts in the week that follows; this seems like a cool idea to celebrate and promote this pastime that we all love and hopefully it will catch on as an annual thing. If the first one ever was also the first cSs meet-up? That would be legendary.
