Jerry Lawler complained of chest pains a few days before suffering a heart attack

Jerry "The King" Lawler and Cole.

Let this be a warning and a plea to all you Cagesiders; if you feel chest pain or something else that is not quite right with your body, please get it checked out by a professional.

While this may seem obvious to some, or over-dramatic to others, it is too often the case that someone will ignore the signs of a heart attack until it is far too late.

WREG in Memphis recently interviewed Joe Cooper, a close friend of Jerry Lawler's, who said:

"The King" complained of chest pains just a few days [before Monday Night Raw], but he blew it off thinking it was just indigestion."

As we now know, Lawler would go on to suffer a heart attack, fall unconscious and have to be rushed to the hospital. Thankfully, he lived through the entire ordeal and did not suffer any brain damage.

There are warning signs to any heart attack or stroke, and they should not be dismissed. Cageside's own, June M. Williams, has listed everything you need to know about Lawler's type of angioplasty and stent procedures and what you should do to help prevent them yourself; I suggest you take a look, if you haven't already.

Luckily for Lawler, he was surrounded by some of the best medical personnel and was able to receive help quickly. However, if he had talked to his doctor about his chest pains in the first place, perhaps this could have been avoided altogether.

Again Cagesiders, please get yourself checked out. Don't leave something like this up to chance.

The report after the jump.
