My 2012 WWE Night of Champions Predictions (Warning: Contains Spoilers)

The sixth annual WWE Night of Champions pay-per-view commences from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. And so, here is the card and who I think will win. Warning: this article contains spoilers from this week's SmackDown.

PRE-SHOW

#1 CONTENDER"S BATTLE ROYAL FOR THE UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP

PARTICIPANTS: ALEX RILEY, BRODUS CLAY, CAMACHO, CURT HAWKINS, DAMIEN SANDOW, DARREN YOUNG, DAVID OTUNGA, DREW McINTYRE, EPICO, EZEKIEL JACKSON, HEATH SLATER, HUNICO, JEY USO, JIMMY USO, JINDER MAHAL, JOHNNY CURTIS, JTG, JUSTIN GABRIEL, MICHAEL MCGILLICUTTY, PRIMO, RYBACK, SANTINO MARELLA, TED DiBIASE, TENSAI, TITUS O'NEIL, TYSON KIDD, WADE BARRETT, WILLIAM REGAL, YOSHI TATSU, & ZACK RYDER

This will no doubt be a very competitive battle royal. Both Barrett and Tensai will be dominant but don't expect these two men to win as the WWE tends to avoid heel versus heel matchups. Instead, expect a babyface to win this battle royal with the logical choice being either Ryback or Zack Ryder. Let's just hope Antonio Cesaro's opponent isn't Marella or worse, the Funkasaurus.

FATAL 4 WAY MATCH FOR THE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP

THE MIZ VS. REY MYSTERIO VS. CODY RHODES VS. SIN CARA

This match became official during the SmackDown tapings in Ottawa, Ontario as The Miz will be defending his Intercontinental Championship against Mysterio, Rhodes, and Sin Cara. But despite the odds, look for The Miz to retain.

WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

KOFI KINGSTON & R-TRUTH VS. DANIEL BRYAN & KANE

The "No!" Man and the Big Red Monster became the unlikely number one contenders for the tag team titles. However, expect Bryan and Kane's partnership to crumble as I expect R-Boom to successfully retain the gold.

UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP

ANTONIO CESARO VS. TBA

No matter who wins the pre-show battle royal, I still expect the former Ring of Honor standout to retain.

DIVAS CHAMPIONSHIP

LAYLA VS. KAITLYN

I expect Layla to retain the butterfly belt, but her victory celebration is cut short when Eve Torres attacks her, which will set up the Layla versus Eve feud at Hell in a Cell.

RANDY ORTON VS. DOLPH ZIGGLER

I expect the Apex Predator to emerge victorious in this non-title match.

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

SHEAMUS VS. ALBERTO DEL RIO

I expect not only Ricardo Rodriguez to interfere in this match, but Otunga as well. As a result, I expect this match to end in a disqualification, which means yet another Sheamus-Del Rio match at Hell in a Cell unless Ziggler cashes in his briefcase.

WWE CHAMPIONSHIP

JOHN CENA VS. CM PUNK

At first, I would've guessed that Cena would end Punk's lengthy run as WWE Champion. But after Punk acquired the services of Paul Heyman, I expect Heyman to play a role in this match, which will result in Punk retaining the title.
