Gabe Tuft, who wrestled for WWE under the ring name Tyler Reks, asked for his release from the company this past Monday and had it granted. In a long Twitter post, he explained his reasons for doing so:
"I realized recently that being a Superstar means sacrificing certain things, including time with my family. As a new father, my heart broke every time I had to leave to go on the road. I didn't ever want to miss another moment with my daughter, so I made the decision to be a full time dad and hang up my boots."
This leaves Curt Hawkins without a tag team partner and no one to save him once The Ryback -- or anyone else, for that matter -- gets his hands on him.
Kidding aside, Reks had little to no upward mobility within WWE right now and the rigors of being on the road and missing out on fatherhood was too steep a price to pay. The juice, as they say, wasn't worth the squeeze.
It's an admirable reason to leave the business. Best of luck to Tuft in the future.
