Pre-SummerSlam Wrestler Wrankings: 2012-2013 Season, Week 20

Wrankingslogo_medium

SummerSlam, and the gigantic double points bonus it brings, looms large over the sporting landscape this week. Although the top of the Wrankings may well be transformed by Sunday's results, the biggest match on everyone's minds seems to be the blood feud between Triple H and Brock Lesnar.

Given the enthusiasm for pure sport that I am known for, one might surmise that I would be unenthusiastic about such an encounter due to the minuscule bearing on the top of the Wrankings charts. In fact, that would be wholly untrue. Not every match needs to be between top Wranked competitors for it to be exciting. There's much malicious mojo between these two that has been percolating for a decade. Nothing like a good grudge match to settle the score.

That said-we should all pay closest attention to the whopping 22 total Wrankings points that will be awarded in the WWE Championship Match between CM Punk, Big Show, and John Cena. In terms of sporting relevance, title bouts don't get much bigger than that.
