Cr8vly here; Geno is incapacitated and has lost all ability to process words. Why?
You guessed it -- Hulkamania has run wild once again, as Hulk Hogan has indeed, against all of General Geno's best efforts, advanced to the Final Four in the Cageside Seats Pro Wrestling Tournament.
Two seed André the Giant put up a valiant fight, as one would expect of the Eighth Wonder of the World. But the one seeded Hulkster hulked up and, much to the General's dismay, it was clear the end was near for André. Hogan had him on the ropes throughout the entire day and well into the night.
Although there were times it looked as if The Giant might catch up to "The Immortal," eventually he succumbed to a Leg Drop of a vote with the final score being 94-81.
Some of you Cagesiders pondered whether or not the match-up was this close due to the seeding or sheer Hogan hatred. Yet others proclaimed Hulk advancing may have been prevented altogether, if only Gorgeous George had pulled through in his Sweet Sixteen match with André which he lost by the narrow margin of 69-61. Could George have thwarted Hogan's Big Boot? I guess we will never know. Perhaps Sergio and Geno will gab about it this Friday on the podcast.
With Hogan winning the Cageside poll for most popular wrestler and spurring this tournament on in the first place, it really comes as little surprise that no upset was to be had, even to our mighty General (whom I hear sobbing incoherently in the other room, so I should wrap this up and go console him now).
For those of you wondering if all is lost and if the site and tournament will both shut down for a day of silence while there is an extended #GenoTime here in Illinois... no worries, the show must go on, so he will save it for the Cageside Live Podcast this Friday... so be sure to tune in then.
Hogan's victory means he'll face three seed Randy Savage next week in the Final Four.
Check out the vote tally list after the jump. Later today at 10 a.m. CT be sure to cast your vote in the final Elite Eight match pitting The Rock vs. Undertaker.
