Inside the Octagon, he's an outspoken, charismatic middleweight who channels Billy Graham in his post-fight promos and challenges his opponents to Loser Leaves Town matches.
Outside the Octagon, he's relatively soft-spoken, extremely approachable and one of the nicest guys who punches dudes for a living you would ever meet.
It's that dichotomy which is at the heart of the perfect pro wrestler. It's all about the character you portray. Sonnen's character led to a million buyrate for UFC 148, his rematch with Anderson Silva.
That, combined with his relationships with Roddy Piper and CM Punk, seemed to indicate he was WWE-bound after his stint with the UFC is over.
Not so fast, Cagesiders. From an interview with the New York Post:
"I only watch WWE if Stone Cold Steve Austin is on or if CM Punk is wrestling. Other than that, I have no interest."
The only thing we can hope for is this is more carny talk from Sonnen and we may see him in WWE after his Octagon career is over.
