Oh that Brock Lesnar, he's such a bully.
During this past Monday night's (Aug. 13, 2012) episode of WWE Raw, Lesnar (kayfabe) broke Shawn Michaels' arm, or at least appeared to. That was the assumption going off the air and it left doubt as to whether or not Michaels would be involved in Lesnar's match against Triple H at Summerslam this Sunday night in Los Angeles.
Naturally, WWE.com came with an update on the situation:
WWE.com has confirmed that WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels' arm was broken during a brutal attack by Brock Lesnar on Monday's Raw and he will not be at this Sunday's SummerSlam. ... According to medical personnel, Michaels sustained a fractured radius in his arm, as well as various forearm contusions. HBK also suffered a cervical strain and multiple contusions all over his body.
The fact that they made sure to note the exact extent of the injury makes me wonder if there isn't a plan in place to have Michaels show up at Summerslam anyway and perhaps cost Lesnar the match. That could be the work around to get Triple H to go over while convincing Brock he can still come out looking strong, essentially a similar song-and-dance they did with his match at Extreme Rules against John Cena.
A fractured radius in Michaels' arm is incredibly vague and that suits their purposes well. An injury like that often doesn't require surgery, either. Oftentimes, a cast is applied after swelling goes down after just a few days and it's removed roughly six weeks later.
Basically, Michaels could feasibly show up at the last minute wearing a cast, hit Lesnar with the Sweet Chin Music, and bail. Or he could actually just stay home and his involvement was simply to get some more heat on Lesnar heading into the match, heat that didn't exist previously.
