Dawn Marie can sign autographs quickly, but is she as speedy with a check? Photo via upload.wikimedia.org.
In an interview with the Inside The Ropes podcast last Thursday, Kamala responded to the claims from both Millenium Wrestling Federation promoter Dan Mirade and Wrestlers Rescue founder Dawn Marie that they had both sent checks to him from their fundraising attempts on his behalf before he went on YouTube lambasting them for not giving him any cash.
Basically, we have a situation where it's one word against another's, as Kamala still insists that both parties made no effort to pay him until he exposed them via YouTube on July 31st:
Dawn Marie contacted me a few months ago about doing a benefit called Wrestlers Rescue. Times are tough for me, I accepted it. It went on and she told me "I'm going to send you a check". I never got a check. I called her and told her and she said she'd send it out that day. A few weeks went by and nothing came. After I did the video, exposing her, she sent the check. Now I returned it because there was no funds in the bank and I heard she stopped the check after that. Now MWF out of Boston, MA, they did the same thing.
Upon hearing the news, Marie responded by tweeting a bank statement that proved she put $500 into her Pro Wrestling Relief account (the non-profit arm of Wrestlers Rescue) on July 19th before writing a check to Kamala the next day:
Here is the bank statement proving that there was enough money in account for Kamala's check. Just another 1 of his lies pic.twitter.com/7orS95Ob
At this point, it's hard to know who to believe, as there's been so many claims and counter claims back and forth. I just give up!
Which is exactly what Kamala's doing with Wrestlers Rescue, as he's washed his hands with their charity outfit, once, and for all:
I never told them it was too late to send the money. I never talked to them again. I don't want their help. It's not legitimate. It's not from their hearts. They want to give me money just to say they helped Kamala. Nobody speaks good about them. The only one they helped was Jimmy Snuka and he lives near Dawn in Jersey so I guess she helped him because she was too scared he'd come over and slap her face if she didn't. She didn't think I'd go as far to expose her.
However, he's still soliciting donations from fans via PayPal, which makes you wonder whether he was too quick to rush to judgement, unless the goal all along was to generate sympathy for himself to drum up more direct financial support, cutting out the middlemen.
